Participate in Givology's 4th of July Contest!

In honor of Independence Day, we will be hosting a Twitter contest focusing on independence and education around the world. Throughout history, education has played a major part in fostering independence movements. Many revolutions, including some of the recent uprisings in the Middle East, have resulted from college students challenging the norms of government. But, in the same respect, independence has also influenced the effectiveness and role of education systems around the world. Many newly independent nations struggle with high rates of illiteracy, inadequate schools and teachers, millions of children out of school, and a lack of resources to deal with these problems. Although these challenges present huge obstacles, independence can give nations a chance to start over and rebuild a bigger and better education system that will provide a brighter future for its students and the nation as a whole.

The contest will work like this:

The Questions:
Starting on Tuesday, June 28th, 5 questions will be posted every afternoon until the contest ends on Friday, July 1st. The questions will be true/false or multiple choice, and the questions will all come from content that has been posted to Givology’s Twitter account with the hashtag #4JulContest. This content has been going up since Saturday, June 25th, and includes articles and videos. You have until 2am the next morning to answer the questions (for example, you have until 2am on Wednesday to answer Tuesday’s questions). **NOTE** Friday’s questions will be posted in the morning, and you will have until 5pm Friday afternoon to answer them.

Responding to Questions:
To answer questions, all you need to do is tweet the answer. At the end of the tweet, include the hashtag #4JulContest so that we can track your answers.

How to Win:
Winners will be announced both daily and at the end of the week. The daily winners will be the participants who had the most correct answers from that day. In addition to daily winners, there will also be winners for the entire week. These winners will be determined based on the highest cumulative number of correct answers from the entire week.

Prizes:
Daily prizes will be coupon codes for JoinFite. More information on JoinFite and how these coupons work is available below. End of the week prizes will include JoinFite coupons, t-shirts, and other giveaways. In the event that there are ever more winners than prizes available (unlikely but possible), the prizes will be awarded based on a random drawing among the winning participants. We will notify prize winners of how to claim prizes through Twitter messages, so please make sure that you follow @Givology so we can contact you.

About JoinFite:
FITE is a global empowerment platform powered by Kiva.org, the nonprofit leader in microfinance, that is designed to foster Financial Independence Through Entrepreneurship for women in the developing world. Our mission is to provide women entrepreneurs access to small loans that will help them start or grow a business; and to help educate the public at large about the benefits of empowering women entrepreneurs so that they “can hold up their half of the sky.” In just the first 2 years, we aim to help at least 25,000 women in this capacity. Leading thinkers in social development, including the World Bank, hail investing in women as “smart economics,” an untapped resource that can help solve many of the problems we see in our world today. Indeed, lending to women produces a positive ripple effect of improved health, education, and welfare for all household members. And yet, investments in women are not being made. Women are traditionally more likely to be denied a loan by a bank, and often face high levels of financial discrimination. More than 70% of people who live below the poverty line are women. FITE aims to change that, and is recruiting partners who are invested in creating change for women and communities around the globe.
Coupon Codes:
FITE codes are created by FITE partners to give you the power to direct a donation from them to an entrepreneur's microloan in a part of the world, and for a type of business, of your choosing. For More Info: Visit www.joinfite.org
