Introducing Our New Intern: Isabel Shew

It is a unanimous truth that the best education does not concern itself with divulging a single set of ideas but multiple ones filled with versatile visions and perspectives. Concisely put, “Everyone is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid.” To Isabel Shew, this undoubtedly speaks of the importance of creativity and open-mindedness in our classrooms. As a new development intern, Isabel Shew hopes to work with Givology partners to learn how education empowers individuals to voice their concerns and visions for their communities. Isabel, although just a sophomore at the Briar Woods High School, has had a lot of experience with bringing a comprehensive education to her local community. She has created fitness slides shows, compiled videos and given presentations to help underprivileged kids learn what a healthy lifestyle entitles. In addition, she loves spending her summers teaching younger kids the basics of programming at a summer camp. Aside from her academics, Isabel enjoys running competitively as part of her school’s cross country team. As part of the Girls Scouts since 1st grade, Isabel instantly resonated with Givology’s mission when she first learned about it through LinkedIn. She hopes to learn a lot through her time working with Givology.
