My name is Zulekha Tasneem. I'm 17 years old and am a rising senior at Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology in Alexandria, Virginia, and even though this is a predominantly STEM based school, I have found my passion in the liberal arts and education through my experiences from debate. I am the co captain for the Policy Debate team at my high school and I travel every month for a tournament in a different state. I also am a dedicated Indian classical dancer and have been dancing for the past 12 years.
How did you find Givology and what made you want to join the organization?
Zulekha found Givology through an Internship fair at her school. She goes to a STEM magnet school but she wasn’t interested in pursuing an internship related to STEM so she found Givology. She chose to join Givology because it is similar to a program she is a part of called Homework Helpers. This program provides tutors for students who need extra help. She also found that the values of Givology were the same values she believed in!
What does Givology’s mission mean to you?/Why is Givology’s mission important to you?
Givology mission to provide education and make it accessible regardless of who they are and where they are is very important. She has two immigrant parents so she understands that education isn’t focused upon in other places outside of America. Givology does what it needs to do to give education to others.
