Schools for Children of the World with Chuck Newman

SCW focuses on empowering underserved communities in the developing world through helping them plan, design, and build high quality schools. SCW works with local communities and national governments to help achieve their mission, and they have successfully completed building and renovating 130 schools, served 21,128 students, and worked in over 10 developing countries across Central America, the Caribbean, and Africa.

Chuck Newman is the founder and president of Newman Architecture, an architectural firm founded in 1982 in Plainfield, Illinois, a western suburb of Chicago. Since its founding in 1997, Schools for Children of the World (SCW) has completed over 130 educational facility improvement projects, serving over 16,000 children per year in 10 different countries. Chuck was named the International Planner of the Year by the Council of Educational Facility Planners International in 2010.

In this episode, Newman shares the struggles that special needs children face, explains the process and the considerations being made when building a new school, and highlights SCW’s goals and plans for the future.
