Givology Essay Contest

We are delighted to announce the winners of the Givology inaugural essay contest! We had two categories – fiction and nonfiction. Thank you so much to everyone who participated – we truly enjoyed reading the essays, which captured fresh perspectives on education

Prompts included:

Non-fiction: What is one barrier to an access to education and cost effective solution to it.

Allyson Park is a 17-year-old junior in the Vocal Music Department at the Los Angeles County High School for the Arts (LACHSA), where she continues to deepen her passion for vocal performance through rigorous training and collaborative artistry. She has performed as a scholar with the Grammy Award–winning National Children’s Chorus and was a featured soloist singing alongside renowned soprano Angel Blue at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion. Currently, Allyson is preparing to release her debut single and will perform solo at Carnegie Hall in Spring 2026. Beyond music, she is a writer who enjoys crafting realistic fiction, narratives, and poetry, and was recently shortlisted in the Theology category of the John Locke Institute essay competition. Living with two rare diseases, Allyson is deeply committed to using art as a tool for advocacy, healing, and empowerment. She is the founder of The Dear World Project, an initiative dedicated to raising funds and awareness for pediatric healthcare. Presently, she is focused on vocal training while continuing to explore her love for writing, embracing a multifaceted approach to storytelling that deepens her artistry and expands the stories she is able to tell—both on the page and through song.

Loore Lill is a 14-year-old student from Estonia, a small country in Northern Europe. She has a deep passion for writing and reading, learning foreign languages, and dancing. Aside from her daily hobbies and attending school, Loore feels deeply for the children whose educational rights have been unfairly taken from them. She believes that all children around the world need to have an equal chance to attend school and receive education, and she hopes that this problem will come to light in even bigger headlines.
