Listen to Shravika as she interviews Sreelatha and Siva Narla, representatives from Chetana Foundation, an organization that aspires to strengthen and cultivate inclusivity within disadvantaged communities. Founded in 2016, Chetana derives from a Sanskrit word meaning “consciousness”, which is the organization’s core value. With 300+ active volunteers and a youth chapter, Chetana supports education programs, hunger relief, environmental conservation, and empowerment programs both in the local community of Greater Portland and abroad. Chetana has a unique blend of backgrounds and strives to welcome individuals from all walks of life.
Sreelatha Narla has been volunteering for over 10 years in the DMV area. She helps provide home-cooked meals to the homeless, provides winter gear, and volunteers at her local fire station. She has done this all while being the coordinator in the DMV area for Chetana Foundation, where she expanded her impact further. Siva Narla is also deeply committed to his community by providing meals, assisting in moving supplies, and supporting other community initiatives.
In this episode, Sreelatha and Siva discuss Chetana Foundation’s impactful work they have done both in the U.S. and India. They highlight their initiatives to improve access to education and others initiatives they have done to uplift communities in need.
