Profile
Sonia Sharif is an eight year old girl and living with her mother and six sisters in a rented house in the red light area Lahore. Her mother and her two elder sisters are sex workers, hardly earning an amount of Rs. 10000/ month (US $ 119/ month) from prostitution. With this
limited income she is unable to meet the daily expenses of food and rent of the house.

Her mother is not able to bear the expenses of her education and health care. Her two sisters are in the business of prostitution and her remaining three sisters have also never attended the school. Her mother and other family members do not want her to attend the school as they are unable to meet the expenses of her education.

Her mother wants her to be a prostitute in future but she
does not want such a fate. She desires an education and to become an artist in future.
She thinks that education is the best way to find out other alternate ways of livelihood. She is not getting any support from her family for her education.

Currently she is going to SHEED School but she really hopes that there are donors to help her to meet the expenses of her education.

Hey, all- at the moment, I'm a project manager for major construction projects. I graduated from Penn State with a Master's in Architectural Engineering in '09. Structural engineering has been my concentration. I'm a sucker for a good cause; feel free to ask me about my ongoing child sponsorship through Compassion International. I look forward to speaking with many of you and learning about your background and what's drawn you to this website. Finally (but most importantly), kudos to my high school acquaintance, Joyce Meng, and the rest of the Givology team for setting out to change the world. Rock on! :)
