Profile

I was born into a loving family, and although my parents had to labor strenuously, I still had the opportunity of beginning elementary school at age 5. However, my good fortune did not last long. In 2000, my mother passed away as a result of poor health and over-exhaustion from laboring in the fields. In order to give my mother a proper burial, my family spent nearly all of our savings. We even had to sell our land to cover the cost. After the funeral was over, we were only left with a shabby house.

My grandmother broke her leg earlier this year, and thus became entirely dependent on my family. As a result, my father’s burdens have become even heavier. I am extremely grateful for today’s opportunity of receiving education grants through the Peach Foundation. I hope that I will be able to receive donations so that my father will be less tired everyday.

  • Zhiqing Lv: Another year complete!

We are now fundraising to support Zhiqing for another year! As you can read from his handwritten letters, your contribution has made a tremendous difference. $250 paid for tuition, books, school supplies, and transportation for the 2009-2010 school year. Unlike some of our other partners which provide a one-time grant to a student, the scholarships provided by the Peach Foundation last for two years in order to provide the children with a sustained period of education. In September, the children returned to school, and we are hoping to raise another $220 for the 2010-2011 year. One of the most innovative aspects of Givology is the opportunity to make connections across the world – both inspiring and being inspired by the children that you support. We sincerely hope you consider supporting Zhiqing again. Even if you choose not to make a financial contribution, we still urge you to send him a message that we can deliver. Words of encouragement can go a very long way!
  • Update from Zhiqing

Zhiqing recently wrote us this heartfelt, reflective letter. As you can see, he is somewhat concerned about his prospects post-high school. Please continue to message him - your thoughts and demonstrations of support can make a huge difference in motivating our students. ----- Dear Givology, I was very happy to receive warm encouragement from you. Thank you for your support, I am very thankful I can continue studying in high school, thank you for giving me this opportunity. My studies have become increasingly stressful. Next semester will bring upon the intense studying needed to prepare for my last year in high school. What scares me more is that once I am done with high school, I will be at a loss of what to do next. I still feel very conflicted about my future. I know I want to be strong and independent, and regardless of the matter, I will always set high standards for myself. But reality is often a merciless blow. Oftentimes our ideals and reality are too mismatched. I want to ...

  • Update from Zhiqing

Dearest Uncles and Aunts, I am a student at YanYuan Minority High School, wishing you happiness and health! I am very grateful for all your caring about me, helping me, and supporting me. Also on my father's behalf, I thank all of you. Because of this support you've filled my life with joy and light! Ever since arriving at the High School, where I am a freshman in the Third Class, I've gotten along well with all the students. I believe that YanYuan is filled with loveable students and warm-hearted teachers! I love exercising such as running, ping pong, or hiking outside of class, but there are times where I am accompanied by feelings of loneliness. Regarding my studies, my favorite subjects are chemistry, physics, and especially physical education because I love moving about. I have some weak points and bad habits regarding my studies, but I am still working my hardest to do better. I've discovered that I have some major ups and downs. Since time is tight and studies...
