Profile

The Wisdom School Project is a project to build a three story building with nine large classrooms. One of the classrooms will be used as a computer lab.

History

The Wisdom International School came into existence when Kennedy Aboagye, a trained teacher, was introduced to region without a single private school. Ken opened the doors of his school in February 7th, 2000 with five students in attendance. Though he hired teachers to help with finances, Ken did almost everything himself--carpentry, masonry, teaching, washing, cooking, etc. Since its inception, enrollment has increased exponentially. The school now has hundreds of students and is recognized with a very positive reputation. In 2007, a rainstorm blew the roof off of the Wisdom School Building. Running classes became extremely difficult, so in April of 2008, Ken, the school's proprietor, took out a loan of 20,000 Ghana Cedis (almost $10,000) with an interest of 39% to start the project. In order to pay back this loan, Ken sold land that he was in possession of. Since then, Ken has found additional grants and loans to fund the project. The school project is nearing completion, and needs one final loan. By completing the project, the school hopes that it will not face as many difficulties due to weather exposure.

Impact

So far, the project has been able to increase enrollment and the environment for teaching. When completed, the project will provide the school with the needed facilities to improve the quality of education for its students.

Team Credentials

The school's project team is extremely dedicated to creating a better future for the school and its students.

Updates

  • Thank you for your giving, Givology!

This is how far the Wisdom School in Ghana has come. We are very grateful for the support and encouragement to the school, parents, and the schoolchildren. It is well appreciated. Thank you all once again, Aboagye Kennedy (the proprietor)
  • Well done Givology team!

Dear reader, Our story has become beautiful. We started in wooden structures and we needed our story to be shared with the whole world. We couldn't have come this far without your assistance and direction. Together, we have provided a sound learning environment for the pupil in Kitase and its surrounding villages. Wisdom School has really helped in promoting quality education in the rural areas. We would like to an extend an invitation to the Givology team members to our 10th speech and prizes giving day in October 2016. We will be happy if this invitation is honored. Sincerely, Kennedy
  • An unfortunate set back

These are pictures of the Wisdom School. All of the back walls, roofing and wooden structures are in a bad condition. We are in need of urgent assistance because we would like to improve the infrastructure before the fast approaching rain season comes. Please help us as soon as possible. We truly appreciate it. There are so many differences I see around the Wisdom School--both in the kids and myself. It is a wonderful change to see. In the pictures are kids enjoying their recess and a few photos of their graduating. Ken
