Givology's Exciting Make Your Mark Event!

Lack of Access to Education Worldwide: The Problem
The lack of access to primary and secondary education is a severe problem that is plaguing our world. According to UNESCO, in 2007 there were over 142 million, yes million, children that were of primary and secondary school age that were not attending school. The reasons for this are many and they range from no nearby schools, crisis disrupting day-to-day life, and the lack of funds to pay for an education. There are various remedies to these problems; more schools can be built in rural areas where there are none and an emphasis could be placed on providing education in refugee and IDP camps. However, the fact that some children are not attending school because they cannot afford it is completely unacceptable. Education should be a right, not a privilege for those who can pay for it – there is no price tag on an education, especially primary and secondary education.

You Can Make Your Mark!
So millions of children are not attending school; many because their families cannot afford it and rely on their children to help support the family. So what can you do? There is a simple solution: sponsor a child’s education through Givology! But for most of you reading this, you probably already do and we thank you for that! So, on June 17th from 2 to 7pm at Union Square in New York City, we are offering you a new and more creative way to get involved…and the best part is, it’s FREE!

Event Details
Givology is partnering with Jubilee Project (a non-profit dedicated to creating videos that inspire change) and Joseph Kilrain (a respected graphic artist) for the Mark Your Mark event. From 2-7pm on June 17th, we are encouraging you to stop by Union Square to place a fingerprint on a world map that Joseph Kilrain will create. The fingerprint you place is where you would like to help educate a child. You get to make your mark on the world, literally! Our sponsors have pledged money to go to help schools in the locations where you place your fingerprint. 100% of the funding we raise will go directly to the schools in the locations where you made your mark.
