Schools for Asia Educational Foundation was created in 2002 by a Canadian couple, Matthew and Rebecca Baker. Its main project is Beacon Hill Academy, a unique school in the mountainous tea-picking region of Sri Lanka. Beacon Hill reaches out to the youth of the area by giving them one year of intensive training in English and leadership/professional development.
This enables the students to pursue a better career and break the cycle of poverty. The course also puts a strong emphasis on personal development and service to the community, so that our graduates can spread the impact of their education to those around them. We offer this course free-of-charge, as we believe it should be accessible for anyone who needs the education.
