Description

GO - Give an Opportunity is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization incorporated in Philadelphia, PA.

Our main goal is to promote local education among students of high academic performance and low economical resources. We want to be able to provide those children who show good standing, the possibility to access the proper education eliminating any of the common obstacles brought by the lack of money and food in the families. At the same time we want to further educate these children with the proper values, customs, responsibilities and teach them to have their own personal goal in life. We want to provide children with all the tools needed to be successful and come out of poverty.

The program GO – GIVE AN OPPORTUNITY was born in Cordoba, Argentina, in the context of the great crisis of 2001. The serious economic situation has affected all sectors of society, especially the poorest.

The teachers of the IPEM 18 school, located in the north of Córdoba surrounded by poor neighborhoods, were the first persons to be affected by the consequences of this crisis like unemployment, poverty, school dropouts, increased demand for food in school, etc. Teachers began to seek help.

Thus was born GO – GIVE AN OPPORTUNITY, which has grown over time and today it is a comprehensive fellowship program whose goal it is to enable selected students the access to better education, by eliminating the common obstacles like the lack of money and food by promoting values such as multiculturalism, responsibility, the desire of achievement, and recognition of one's own abilities that help them to achieve their desires.

Because of his own history, he considers the education and future of his children to be the most important thing and supports Eliana as well as he can in order to help her finish school and get a decent job. After finishing school Eliana would like to study biochemistry since biology and chemistry are the topics she enjoys most. She also knows that one can reach a higher standard of living with this background than with an art degree. Also, she has enjoyed a project at school called “Pro Salud” (Pro Health) in which the students were taught how to take her of their own bodies and eat healthy food. Eliana has one g...
