My name is Tatiana. I am 16 years old. I live in Girón with my parents, two brothers and two sisters. We lost our home several years ago due to a flood. Right now we are living in a provisional home provided by the government. The place where we live does not have access roads; there are community laundry sinks, community bathrooms and community recreational spaces. The supply of water and electricity is provisional. The families that were affected by the flood and lost their homes were relocated to a different area while the government builds new homes in a safe area. Right now the government is visiting the families affected by the flood to give them their new home. Since my parents work most of the time and my brothers and sisters study during the day, I decided to validate so I can stay home to receive the visit from the government. I study every Sunday from 7 -1 p.m. Since I am validating, I can finish one grade in a 6 month period. This means I will finish 9th grade in June a...

Cordillera, Paraguay
Everyday, no matter if it is raining, freezing or very hot out, we have school, and we have a lot of homework. In my free time, I like to practice the guitar and listen to music by Simple Plan. My biggest dream is to go to the United States to study. Then I would like to come back to my country, to my town, and help my people. I believe that everything is possible if one wants it, it is just a question of will. ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ About Tobatí :Tobatí is both a town and a provincial district within the department (state) of Cordillera, Paraguay. Bajipura Children’s Library
$300 of $300 donated
Gujarat, India
Reading material in rural Gujarat is scarce – there are no bookstores readily available in local villages and even in nearest cities, it can be difficult to find leisure reading books or picture books for students to enjoy. Even if these books were made available for purchase, most students’ families in this largely tribal farming community do not have the extra money to purchase books for their family members to read. Up until recently, a very large broom closet at the Bajipura High School, located in the village community of Bajipura, has been used for keeping unused textbooks, discarded test papers and other such bric a brac in storage. The school has recently decided to convert this broom closet into a library which the 1700 students studying in Bajipura High School can enjoy. The space having been donated, we will purchase books or ship donated childrens’ books in Gujarati, Hindi and English, as well as provide training for the librarian so she can be helpful and proactiv...
