Dear donors of the PEACH Foundation: Greetings! I am a freshman in high school, currently studying at Yanyuan Town Minzu Secondary School. My family has faced a lot of hardships, and my teacher said you are able to provide support to families in poverty. Therefore I’m submitting this application. Let me tell you a bit more about my family conditions: My family lives in Shuwen Town, Guanfang Village. There are four members in my family: my father, my mother, my brother and myself. Our house is made of soil. It’s not beautiful to look at but it is enough to shelter us. My parents are both farmers. Most of our income comes from farming and largely depends on our crop harvest. My father sometimes tries to find odd jobs to make some money, but they are mostly labor jobs and don’t provide much income. My brother is in second grade of middle school and it costs a lot of money as well. My family has very little land, so we can only produce a small harvest every year. Our family doesnâ...

Kampala, Uganda
Until this year I lived with my family in a remote village in the northern part of Uganda. I came to Peace School six months ago. I had never been to school before. After my father died, Mrs. Oliver, who is a teacher at the School, brought me here. She was a friend of my father.  I now live at Peace School with 14 other boys in the Boy’s Dormitory.  During the holidays I go back to my village and stay with my grandfather. I miss my family a lot. It is good to see my mother, brothers and sister. My family speaks Swahili and it has been difficult to learn English and attend a school where classes are taught in English.  My favorite subject is math. Thank you for helping me to get a good education.  Note: Peace Nursery and Primary School is a private school serving orphans and other children unable to afford the costs of attending public schools. As such, it receives no funding from public sources. Located in a suburb of Uganda’s capital city Kampala, the school is in a hig...
Cissy Namukasa

Kampala, Uganda
My name is Cissy Namukasa, but people call me Smiley because I always smile even when I am sad. I am the oldest child in my family, and we make and sell crafts. However, they all take a long time to make, and sometimes we have to sell them at a really low price because no one wants to buy them. Because my mother is handicapped and has trouble walking, I take care of my two brothers and run the household. However, I have become really good at weaving mats and basket, so I make them in my spare time. I have two brothers John four years and Musoke six year. I like that I’m going to the Circle of Peace School because I want to learn how to think about and express my opinions. I believe that education is important, so when I grow up, I want to be a teacher and teach my friends in the village. I am very grateful for the people from America and Grandma Amina at the Circle of Peace School. Whenever they visit, I want to go to school and do my best because I enjoy their lessons and activit...

My name is Christy Sekle and I am four feet four inches tall. I love school and I am in good academic standing. My future dream is to become a nurse because I want to educate many people in the future to know how to take care of themselves because as of now, people do not understand good health. A big problem we have in Ghana is malaria. Our government is working hard to fight it, but more needs to be done. I want to help people to be better and to change their ways so they can live happier and healthier.
